 Getting to & from the Airport

Driving hide 

Madrid airport is just 14 kilometres (9 miles) from Madrid city centre and can be easily reached via the M40 (ring road), then the A2 which goes onward to Barcelona. The airport is off exit 12 and should take approximately 20 minutes to reach by car.

Trains hide 

The Madrid Metro Line runs from the airport to Madrid's city centre metro station in just 12 minutes providing a fast and direct way into the city. The Barajas train line number 8 also offers a speedy route from the underground stations at the airport into the heart of Madrid. 

Buses hide 

EMT (Madrid Municipal Transport Company) runs regular public bus services between the airport and Madrid city centre bus station. The number 200 stops outside Terminals 1 and 2, while bus 204 stops outside Terminal 4. The journey time is approximately 30 minutes.

Taxi hide 

Taxis are available from outside all terminals and take approximately 30 minutes to reach the city centre. Don’t accept any offers of taxis from inside the terminal building as they are unlikely to be legitimate companies.
