Aeroflot flights

The flag carrying airline of the Russian Federation is one of the oldest airlines in the world, and dates back to 1923. During the Soviet era the airline was the largest in the world. Currently the airline is part owned by the Russian government, and is part privatised. The airline joined the SkyTeam alliance in 2006, and has its own frequent flyer program: Aeroflot Bonus.

How to Check In

Online and mobile check-in are both available from 24 hours before departure up until 45 minutes before. Mobile check-in isn’t available for passengers flying to the USA or India, and if you’re flying from a Russian airport you will need to bring a printed boarding pass. You can also check-in at the airport: If you’re flying from Moscow it’s recommended that you arrive at the desk three hours before departure, as check-in closes two and a half hours before departure.

Baggage Allowance and Fees

Economy class passengers can bring one piece of luggage weighing up to 23kg free of charge. Comfort class and premium economy passengers are entitled to two bags weighing up to 23kg each, while business class passengers can bring two bags weighing up to 32kg each. There’s a fee if you want to bring extra baggage. For the first piece of excess baggage the charge is €50* (about £40.40), and €150* (about £118.15) for each additional bag.

Seating – Leg Room, Choosing Seats

Legroom in economy is a fairly standard 30-32”. Business class passengers can stretch out with 57”-60” on long-haul flights. On short-haul flights business class passengers have a comfortable 38” of legroom. Aeroflot offer extra legroom seats, Space+. These seats cost €25* (about £19.70) on medium haul flights, and €50* (about £39.40) on long-haul. Free upgrades are available for Gold and Platinum members of Aeroflot Bonus, as well as passengers who have a ticket for comfort class for a different segment of their flight. You can select your seat when you check in.

Booking Fees

If you’re booking online there’s a fee of €3.70* (about £2.90) per leg. If you buy your ticket direct from an Aeroflot office the fee is €25* (about £19.70).

Meals, Snacks, Drinks

All passengers are offered a complimentary meal, with a menu that changes every 6 weeks; great news for frequent flyers! Complimentary soft drinks are also available, and travellers on some routes can enjoy a complimentary glass of wine with lunch.
