Air Canada is the flag carrier and largest airline of Canada. Air Canada was founded in 1936 and started passenger flights in September 1937. Its first passenger flight, from Vancouver to Seattle, carried only two passengers and some mail - a $14.20 round trip.
A founding member of Star Alliance, Air Canada provides scheduled and charter air transport for passengers and cargo to 178 destinations worldwide.
It is one of the top ten largest passenger airlines in the world and in 2013 was recognised as the Skytrax Best International Airline in North America.
How to Check-in
You can check in online up to 24 hours before your flight, your boarding pass can be printed at home, collected at the airport desk or self-service kiosk, or you can even get an electronic boarding pass sent directly to your mobile device. Options such as upgrades or changes of seat are also available when checking in online. If checking in at the airport then times will vary according to your destination.
Baggage Allowance and Fees
Each passenger is allowed to carry on one bag, and one personal item such as a briefcase. All carry-on baggage must weigh no more than 22lbs/10kg and be no larger than 55cm x 40cm x 23cm, while the personal item must weigh no more than 10kg and be no larger than 43 cm x 33 cm x 16 cm (length x width x height). The checked baggage allowance depends on a passenger's fare, destination, date of travel and frequent flyer status but can be checked online prior to booking. Go online and select your seats in advance with an easy-to-use seat map. You can choose from standard or preferred seating, which has a little more legroom. You can select your seat on completion of your ticket purchase, or retrieve your booking online and select a seat up to 3 hours before your flight or check in on line and select your seat within 24 hours of your flight. Preferred seats can be purchased at any time prior to check-in. Special seats are available for people with a medical condition who require them.
Meals, snack and drinks
Air Canada offer a selection of meals options according to flight class and destination. On most executive flights, international cuisine and fine wines are offered. An onboard café is available in economy class on most flights of 90 minutes or more. A choice of 17 special meals is offered in all classes of service on all flights where a meal service is offered, these must be ordered at least 18 hours before your flight.
