The brainchild of legendary business man Richard Branson, Virgin Atlantic Airways started life in the 1980’s with its first flight from London Gatwick to Newark. Now Virgin flies to destinations throughout North America, Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and Australia. Virgin, however, does not operate any flights to or within Europe. This is strictly a medium to long haul airline.
How to Check In
Virgin Airline offer online and mobile check-in, as well as self-service kiosk and ordinary airport check-in. You can check in online and choose your seat from 24 hours up to 1 hour before your scheduled departure time or from 2 hours and up to 1 hour before your flight if you are checking-in at the airport. You can even avoid peak hours by checking in the night before your flight. This service is available between noon and 9.00pm at Virgin Atlantic's check in desks at London Gatwick Airport. Be sure to leave enough time at the airport for checking-in any luggage if you haven’t already done so online.
Baggage Allowance and Fees
As with all carriers, there are strict conditions when it comes to how much luggage you can take on a flight. Always check with the airline before you travel. For up to date information on baggage allowance and charges, go to the Virgin Atlantic Airways website.
