Cheap Flights from Myrtle Beach AFB - Find airline tickets from Myrtle Beach AFB with Skyscanner

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina has been a popular family vacation spot for generations, and that tradition is strongly evident in the old-school seaside. But there’s a lot more to the “Grand Strand,” if you look just a little deeper. Along these 60 miles of beach you can experience gracious Southern hospitality at many fine restaurants, test your swing at over 100 golf courses, and drink in the serene landscape of marshlands and beaches off the beaten path.

Flights from Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) is still often referred to as AFB. That’s a relic from the airport’s history as a training base for the Air Force during WWII. Though the military and civilian services shared the facilities for many years, these days it’s a purely commercial airport.

About 1.7 million passengers pass through annually. MYR is also the only airport in South Carolina with scheduled international services. Spirit Airlines has made it a focus city, which is good news for anyone trying to find cheap flights from Myrtle Beach. Delta, United Express, US Airways Express, Allegiant Air, Westjet and Porter Airline all operate out of MYR as well, though many routes are strictly seasonal.

This small airport is friendly and relaxed. A host of volunteer “Airport Ambassadors” are on hand to give passengers a warm welcome and helpful information. The two story terminal has two concourses, and getting around (and through security) is usually quick and easy.

What to Do in Myrtle Beach

The main strip of Myrtle Beach is a classic American seaside resort experience, with a fun fair, seafood restaurants, and shops as far as the eye can see. Broadway at the Beach is a huge attraction. The entertainment center houses many restaurants and bars along with an entire water park, mini golf, an IMAX theatre and nearly endless shopping opportunities.

If you’d like to get away from the center of all this activity for a quiet afternoon, take a short drive out to the Huntington Beach State Park, where the gracious Brookgreen Gardens and the lovely Atalaya Castle can be found.

Advice for Tourists Visiting Myrtle Beach

To experience Myrtle Beach in all its glory, you’ll probably want to visit in summertime. It can be hot, but it’s nothing a dip in the sea and an ice cream cone can’t fix. The only real downside is that this is also when everyone else arrives, so you’ll want to book your accommodation early.
