Salt Lake City is nestled among some of the most striking landscapes in America. Both the beauty and the history of this place has stamped itself strongly on residents, who greet visitors with exceptional warmth and friendliness.

Flights from Salt Lake City International Airport

Over 20 million commercial passengers use Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) every year. The airport is a major hub for Delta Airlines, which operates more than 50 domestic and international routes. This high volume helps with finding cheap flights from Salt Lake City to just about anywhere else.

Salt Lake City International Airport currently consists of 3 terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and the International Terminal. A huge development project is underway. Plans call for reconfigured runways, a new parking garage, and a new terminal with two concourses joined by an underground train. This structure will eventually replace all three existing terminals. Work is ongoing, and is expected to be completed in 2022.

Just 4 miles from the city center, SLC is an easy airport to reach. Public transport, operated by the Utah Transit Association, includes the TRAX light rail and bus. The train stop can be found at the south end of Terminal one.

Trains leave every 15 minutes during the week and every 20 minutes of weekends. Trains operate from 6 am to 11 pm Mon-Sat and 9:45 am to 10 pm on Sundays. The trip takes about 15 minutes. You can also catch a bus outside the Welcome Center at Terminal One and outside bag claim 8 at Terminal Two. Check the UTA website for routes and schedules.

Stuff to do in Salt Lake City

Most people who come to Salt Lake City do so with the intent to spend most of their time outside of the city. Hikers, climbers and skiers flock to the nearby Wasatch Mountains.

The Great Salt Lake which gives this place its name offers year-round boating, and is an enormous bird refuge. A state park, Antelope Island, is home to a huge cliffside pelican colony, and is also home to a herd of bison.

Salt Lake City is a surprisingly liberal enclave compared to the rest of Utah. Restaurants, libraries, and museums offer pleasant ways to spend a rare rainy afternoon.
