It’s responsible for most of the international travel into the state, but for domestic travel, there are 4 other LA area airports to choose from: BUR (Bob Hope/Burbank Airport), LGB, (Long Beach Airport) and SNA (John Wayne Airport, aka Santa Ana or Orange County Airport.)

The San Francisco area is served by 3 major airports: SFX, (San Francisco International Airport) is by far the largest. OAK (Oakland International Airport) is the closest to Napa Valley. SJC (Mineta San Jose International Airport) is the closest to Silicon Valley, and is well connected to SF by a shuttle and commuter train.

Other popular California vacation spots are well served by their own airports. PSP (Palm Springs International Airport) will bring you to the beautiful Desert Area. For Sonoma County and Santa Rosa, fly into STS. If you’re going to Yosemite National Park, you might want to fly into FAT (Fresno Yosemite International Airport), and if you want to see Redwood National Park, look for flights to ACV (Arcata/Eureka.) Headed for the Central Coast? SBA (Santa Barbara Municipal Airport) is your best bet.
