Flights to Chicago

The Windy City is home to 2.7 million people – and growing! Located in the heart of the Midwest, Chicago is world renowned for its financial and technological influence, so much so that it earned the title of “alpha city” in 2012.

To put the popularity of Chi-Town into perspective, nearly 50 million domestic and international tourists take flights to Chicago in the same year, making it no surprise that O’Hare International Airport is the second busiest on the planet! It is not easy being so popular, but the City of Broad Shoulders does it very well.

What Airlines Fly to Chicago?

Chicago is a Midwestern city, which naturally means it can get very cold during the winter months. Snow-studded streets and skyscrapers are indeed a sight to see, especially during the holiday rush (if you are up for that kind of madness). However, the best off-season visiting periods fall in the span between April to May and September to October. This is when the weather is ideal and the airfare/hotel rates are out of the peak summer zone.

Its alpha city status means Chicago is no stranger to airliners. Nearly every domestic and a wide array of international flight carriers transport passengers to O’Hare daily. For domestic travel within the U.S., American Airlines, Delta, Southwest Airlines, United, US Airways, jetBlue, and Virgin America have frequent availability.

Tourists from outside of the country can book a flight on Porter Airlines, Copa, Hawaiian Airlines, Air China, and Volaris. No matter where in the world you may be, there is bound to be a carrier nearby that flies to The Second City!

What to Do in Chicago

As far as activities are concerned, no true Chicagoland visitor can leave town without seeing a Cubs game at Wrigley Field. Shopping addicts can just as easily get their fix at the over 130 retail stores located at the Fashion Outlets of Chicago. Whether it’s baseball and beer or a buying binge at Nordstrom, this sprawling metropolis is teeming with entertainment value.

Advice For Tourists Visiting Chicago

Get to where you want to go by boarding a ride one of the Chicago Transit Authority’s many buses. 1.6 million people, including tourists, are shuttled to and from the inner city every week. Taxicabs are far from in short supply, as well. However, you may feel more comfortable navigating the city from behind the wheel of a rental car.
