Dubai Airport

The United Arab Emirates’ most populated city and one that has expanded at a massive pace over the last decade, Dubai is home to over 2 million people and houses some of the most expensive real estate in the world.

Its hotel rates are the second highest after Geneva, Switzerland and it has been dubbed the best place to live in the Middle East because of its economic stability and positive emphasis on women’s rights and a wide range of cultural issues. Tourists wanting to experience the best of what the region has to offer will find Dubai to be a thrilling getaway!

Flights to Dubai International Airport

Dubai International is the city’s main airport, and a central one for passengers flying to the Middle East. It is also a crucial base of operations for Emirates, FlyDubai, and Emirates SkyCargo.

Emirates is the largest airline in the Middle East, accounting for nearly two-thirds of flight traffic to the region; Dubai International handles half of its daily flights! Over 80 million domestic and foreign passengers are flown to and from the airport annually. To put its scale into perspective, the third terminal has the largest floor space of any building on the planet.

Direct flights from the United States can be reserved on Delta, United, and Emirates, with international tourists able to choose from a host of carriers, including but not limited to jetBlue, British Airways, Qatar Airways, Lufthansa, KLM, and Air France.

What to do in Dubai

Dubai’s sprawling city center is loaded with attractions for children and adults. The nightlife in this massive metropolis rivals its global competitors, but stepping outside of the main areas will allow you to see a different side of Dubai. Cruise the Creek in an Abra to see downtown from the water. This is very inexpensive mode of transportation (.25 cents per trip), and a great way to spend the day! Jumeirah Beach Park and Palm Island are fun places to lounge by the sea and indulge in exotic boat trips, so take your pick!

Tourist Tips

Be prepared to spend at least $150 per night for the city’s 4-star hotels (the Airport Millennium Hotel is a must for late arrivals), and remember to take the above ground metro system when possible. Meals range from $5 to $50 depending on what restaurants you eat. Arabic is the official language in Dubai, although English is widely spoken by most of the public. The Emirati Dirham is the city’s official currency, but exchange banks are available for all international tourists.
