Pensacola Regional Airport Nestled in Northwest Florida is a historic beach city that has a reputation for being chalked full of historic shipwreck sites and beautiful vistas. It is one of the state’s more laid-back atmospheres, and has been nicknamed “The City of Five Flags” since it was owned by five nations for nearly 500 years!

Pensacola is a very small city in comparison to its more widely recognized counterparts, having a population of approximately 55,000. The greater metropolitan area is home to nearly 500,000, but with its small size comes a relaxing spot for people who prefer to get away from the hustle and bustle of Orlando, Miami, and many other touristy areas.

Pensacola International is the primary airport serving the Pensacola Gulf Coast Region. Located three miles from the city center, it transports an estimated 750,000 people each year, all of whom are domestic passengers coming from various areas in the United States. The airport’s original terminal opened in 1935, with flight services starting just two years after.

Although it does not currently offer service to any international destinations, the airport’s name was officially changed to Pensacola International in the fall of 2011. In the same year, it underwent a major terminal expansion effort that cost $35 million. Direct flights to Pensacola are available through Delta, American Airlines, US Airways, United, Southwest Airlines, and Silver Airways.
