Making Your Way to Portland International Airport

If you try to drive to PDX during rush hour, you might find that you spend more time in the car on your way to the airport than you actually spend in flight. In regular traffic, the trip from downtown to PDX will take between 30 to 45 minutes.

Once you arrive, it’s easy to get to the gate. If you go for the Economy lot, however, you’ll need to take a free shuttle to the PDX’s single terminal. It runs every 7-9 minutes between 4:00 a.m. and midnight, and then every 15 minutes between midnight and 4:00 a.m.

If you want to ride your bike to the airport, there’s a bike path, secure bike parking, and even a free work station with tools available to borrow. For public transit, catch the MAX Light Rail Red Line connection directly to the airport. The trip takes about 38 minutes and costs just $2.50. Another option is the Downtown Airport Express by Blue Star, which runs every 30 minutes. Tickets are $14 one way, $24 return.

PDX is a well-loved airport, full of cool amenities. The H-shaped terminal is easy to navigate, the bars stock local microbrews and craft spirits, there’s a tax-free shopping mall after security, and free WiFi for all travelers.

Arriving in Seattle

Coming from Portland, you’ll be ready for whatever the Seattle weather throws at you, which is likely to be rain. But that doesn’t stop anyone from getting out and about.
