Houston Hobby Airport

Texas’ most populated city is the largest in the region. With a rising population of 2+ million and a land area of 600 square miles, Houston is as big in size as it is in economic and social influence. After years of dominating the port and railroad industry, Space City became the central spot for the healthcare and research field.

Cheap Flights from Houston

William P. Hobby is Houston’s first and original public airport, and despite being trumped in size and flight traffic by George Bush Intercontinental (which opened its gates in 1969), it still transports a large number of passengers each year. It is the oldest commercial airport in the city and is the secondary hub for domestic airline flights.

Given its location, William P. Hobby is a focus city for the regional carrier Southwest Airlines. Interestingly enough, the move to create the airport’s first international terminal will undoubtedly increase its flight traffic base. It is slated to offer service to Mexico and Central and South America by 2015, which are major tourist zones for people living in Texas and surrounding states.

The airport currently offers nonstop, direct flights to over 40 destinations in the United States, and it transported approximately 11 million passengers in 2013. With 42 hangars and 250- based aircraft flying through its gates, the city’s smaller airport is far from insignificant. United, Delta, American Airlines, US Airways, Alaska Airlines, airTran, and jetBlue all offer cheap flights from Houston!
