AIRITALY flights & tickets
Meridiana Air is based in Italy and does commercial and charter flights domestically, to other European destinations and some destinations on other continents. The company does have a subsidiary, Air Italy, that carries out some of its specific operations. The name took hold in 1991 but the company has been operating since the mid-1960s.
By many measures, Meridiana is a small airline for having intercontinental flights. Meridiana flights are executed on 21 aircraft, with 17 on order. Thirteen of the current aircraft are Boeing 737 and 767 models, while the company is also flying McDonnell Douglas MD-82 and MD-83 models until they can be phased out and replaced with new Boeing 737s.
Meridiana Air does not allow any infant to travel unless it has an accompanied adult; one infant per adult with the infant on the adult’s lap. No adult will be allowed to transport two infants. However, with advance notice, arrangements can be made for a bassinet or similar to be made available on a flight. Infants cannot have checked baggage but they are allowed a 22-pound carry-on baggage exemption.
If the child will not be on a lap, the adult may purchase a seat for the infant and it must be eseured in an approved child-safety seat. Unaccompanied minors from age 5 to 13 are allowed to travel, but the airline’s ability to monitor and accompany the minor is limited, so the arrangement must be made as early as possible. The cost for the service on an intercontinental flight (to the U.S. for example) is 125 euro (about $136).
