It’s main operational hub is Lynden Pindling International Airport, servicing 32 domestic and international flights to the United States and the Caribbean. Bahamas air was established in 1973 as part of the newly established Commonwealth of The Bahamas, and a need for safe and reliable transportation throughout the region. This airline became the flag carrier to provide the “essential service” of creating a connection between the nation’s capital and further removed islands.

Every passenger is allowed one personal item and one carry on bag up to 20 pounds on all international and domestic flights with their Bahamasair reservations. Each passengers is also allowed one free checked bag that can weigh up to 50 pounds, and be 62 inches. Checking a second bag will cost $35, a third bag is $75, and forth and beyond are $125 each. On international flights, if your bag is between 50 and 70 pounds, it’s an extra $75, and anything greater than 70 pounds up to 99 pounds will be an additional $125. Bags over 100 pounds will not be accepted.
