Arik Air – Cheap Flights

The Nigerian airline Arik Air commenced operations in 2002.  Since then it has developed a network of destinations within Nigeria and West and Central Africa.  It often offers passengers a little more legroom and strives to be the “Wings of Nigeria.”

Although Arik Air has flown to John F. Kennedy International Airport in the past, it currently has no destinations in the United States.

Arik Air Hubs

  • Kotoka International Airport (ACC). Located in Accra, Ghana, at an elevation about 200 feet above seal level, this airport serves both the public and Ghana’s military (it is also the Accra Air Force Station).  It has two passenger terminals.  Terminal 1 is used mostly for domestic and regional traffic, while Terminal 2 serves mostly international flights.
  • Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS). Located in the city of Ikeja in the Nigerian state of Lagos, this airport is about 135 feet above sea level.  The airport used to have a poor reputation; in 1993 the FAA began warning Americans that the airport was not safe and did not permit US flights to go there.  In 2001, the FAA removed this restriction and in 2010 the FAA gave the airport its highest rating.  In recent years, repairs have been made to the air conditioning and the luggage belts and the airport has been cleaned up.
  • Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (ABV). Situated about 12 miles west of Abuja, Nigeria, this airport is at a height of 1342 feet above sea level.  It was closed for six weeks in the spring of 2017 so that repairs, which have since been completed, could be made to the runway.
