Elite members can enjoy extra perks like priority services, seat assignments, and free carry-on baggage. Members of the elite program must requalify every year to keep the status.
EarlyReturns members can use their earned miles for a magazine subscription, a free night in a hotel, or a weekend or week-long car rental. Members can even donate their miles to charity if they won't use them.
How to Check In, Seat Assignment, and Leg Room
Frontier Airlines opens the check-in counter at least 2 hours before the scheduled departure and closes 45 minutes prior. Passengers can skip the lines at the airport by checking in on the free mobile app or online and printing the boarding pass at home. At many airports, travelers can check in at self-service kiosks instead of standing in line. If checking in online with only a carry-on bag, you can head straight to security. If you have checked baggage, proceed to the baggage drop areas when you arrive.
Passengers can choose their seats on Frontier flights in a number of different ways. Book your preferred seat when you make the reservation or anytime before the day of the flight at the airline's website. You can also pick a seat during online check-in within 24 hours of departure, or you can wait until you check-in at the airport. Be aware that many seats may already be taken if you wait until airport check-in. The fee for seat selection ranges from $6 to $25 based on the type of seating and time of selection.
Frontier Airlines offers some of the widest seats available at 16.7"-19.1" depending on the aircraft and seat location. Standard seating also provides ample leg room, at 28"-31" deep. For even more space, the airline offers Stretch Seating in the first three rows and middle exit row. Enjoy an extra 5"-7" for a fee that includes a full recline seat, priority departure off the aircraft, and first choice of in-flight service. Frontier recommends choosing Stretch Seats at booking, as the seats typically go fast.
Baggage Allowance and Fees
Passengers are allowed to bring one personal item for free onboard, as long as it fits under the seat in front of you. The maximum dimension for personal items is 14"x18"x8". Coats, infant accessories, and medical devices are all free in addition to the complimentary personal item. Those who want to bring more than the personal item must purchase carry-on or checked baggage.
Carry-on bags must fit in the overhead bin and cannot exceed 24"x16"x10" including handles, wheels, and straps. The maximum weight for carry-on bags is 35lbs. The fee for carry-on bags varies based on time of purchase and destination. All passengers who purchase a carry-on bag will receive priority Zone 1 boarding. Be aware that fees are non-refundable, and bags that are larger or heavier than the allowed limit will be subject to an additional charge and must be checked.
Checked baggage must be within 62 linear inches and a maximum of 50lbs. Larger or heavier bags will be subject to a fee of $75 for size and $75 for weight. The airline does not accept bags that are larger than 110 linear inches or over 100lbs. EarlyReturns members have the same baggage allowance, but passengers can purchase THE WORKS! or THE PERKS! bundle package that includes a free carry-on and checked bag in addition to one personal item.
Service On Board: In-flight Entertainment and Meals
Frontier Airlines does not offer in-flight entertainment like Wi-Fi, TV, or movies because it believes in passing the cost-savings off to customers.
The airline does, however, offer food and beverages for purchase onboard all aircrafts. They are not complimentary in order to offer customers the lowest fares possible.
Child Fares/Fees, Minor Service Guidelines
Frontier Airlines makes it easy for families with children to travel together with a designated Kid Zone located in the back of the aircraft. Aisle and window seats are available at a discounted rate, with middle seats offered at no additional charge. The seats are close to restrooms with changing tables and quick flight attendant assistance. Seats in the Kid Zone are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The airline allows all children older than 7 days to travel aboard all flights. Infants up to age 2 can travel for free in a guardian's lap, but only one child is allowed per adult lap. Children who require a car seat or who are older than 2 must purchase a seat. There is no additional charge for the car seat, but there are restrictions on which seats on the aircraft can hold a car seat. All car seats must be approved by the FAA.
The carrier considers children ages 5-14 who are traveling alone to be unaccompanied minors. Frontier offers an unaccompanied minor service for a fee of $110 per direction that includes gate pass issuance for the guardian, green bracelet identification, flight attendant oversight, in-flight beverage and snack, and gate issuance for the guardian at pick-up. The service can be arranged at booking or at check-in and is only available on nonstop flights. Guardians who are picking up must arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the flight's arrival.
Frontier allows dogs, cats, hamsters, and other domesticated pets on board all domestic flights in the cabin. Domesticated dogs and cats may travel on international routes. Passengers may not sit in row one or exit rows when traveling with a pet.
All pets must be in an approved container that is small enough to fit under the seat in front of you but large enough for the pet to stand, turn around, and lie down in a natural position. The maximum dimensions for the pet container are 18"x14"x8", and the airline recommends that the container be soft-sided.
Passengers can arrange for a pet to travel either at booking or at check-in. The fee for pets is $75 each way and includes a complimentary personal item for the animal. Carry-on bags may be purchased for an additional fee.
Before you arrive at the airport, be sure to check the arrival state's pet certification requirements. Frontier does not require a health certificate for pets that will travel in the cabin on domestic flights, but individual states may require one. For international travel, a health certificate is required.
