LATAM Airlines Group flights & tickets

Formally known as LAN Airline South America, LATAM Airlines group has taken over operations, and the airline will run under the name LATAM Chile as of 2016. LAN Chile Airlines use to the the flag carrier of Chile, until it was privatized in the 90’s. In 2010, LAN and TAM, a Brazilian airline, merged and created LATAM, the largest airline conglomerate in Latin America. The main operational hub is Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Santiago, Chile. It is one of the largest airlines in Latin America, with flights to Europe, Oceania, North America, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The LATAM fleet in an impressive 316 aircrafts, which are a mixture of Airbus and Boeing models. This large fleet services over 1200 flights daily, and in 2012, this airline became the first to service flights with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The bulk of the fleet is made up of the Airbus A320 model, which seats about 150, followed by the Boeing 767-300ER model, seating about 220 passengers, and mostly used on international flights. Most models have dual class, allowing for passengers seeking a more private, luxury experience to upgrade. Upgrading to Premium Class also gets you priority check in and boarding, and access to LATAM VIP lounges in select airports. Those who are flying routes that offer the upgrade option will receive an email days before the flight inviting you to participate.

LATAM Baggage Allowance

One personal item and one carry-on item are allowed free of charge on all flights. The maximum weight for carry-on bags in Economy Class is 17 pounds, and 35 pounds for Premium Economy or Premium Business class. Domestic flights within Latin America allow passengers one free checked bag up to 50 pounds. Regional flights within Latin America allow for 2 checked bags, weighing 50 pounds total. On international flights, Economy passengers can check 2 bags weighing up to 100 pounds total, and upgraded classes can check up to 152 pounds, distributed between up to 3 bags.

Meals, Snacks and Drinks

On domestic flights that are longer than an hour, complimentary snacks and beverages are served. Longer flights include full meal service, which changes based on time of day and flight duration, plus beer and wine service. If you have dietary restrictions, special meals can be arranged at least 24 hours in advance for flights over 3.5 hours including vegan/vegetarian, diabetic, kosher, kids meals to name a few.

In Flight Entertainment

LAN flights are sure to keep passengers happy from takeoff to landing. Those traveling on flights services by Airbus 350 and Boeing 767, 777 and 787 aircrafts can enjoy personalized entertainment on their individual screens. There are full tv series, movies, music and more to select from. Airbus 319, 320 and 321 aircrafts offer shared screens as well an entertainment app that can be downloaded for a more personal entertainment experience.
