Qatar Airways: Child Fairs/Fees, Minor Service Guidelines

Infants 8-days-old to 2-years-old can ride on a guardian’s lap and there will be an infant fare charged. If the infant is traveling in a separate seat, there would be a child fare charge. Two infants can travel per adult, but the second infant should be over 12-months-old and able to sit on a seat with a seatbelt. If both infants are less than 12-months-old, a second adult must accompany the group. Children 2 to 11-years-old are charged child fare and must travel with an adult 16 or older. Children 5 to 12-years-old can travel as unaccompanied minors and will be charged for an adult fare. Both the guardian bringing the unaccompanied minor to the airport and the guardian picking him or her up will be contacted and informed of the expected arrival time. Staff will help the child retrieve their bags. The bags will have special tags that will allow staff to easily spot the pieces. Staff will accompany the child until he or she is met by your representative. Unaccompanied minors receive priority assistance through immigration, security, boarding, baggage collection, and customs clearance processes. Staff also help children fill in required forms for Immigration and Customs.

Dogs, cats, and birds can travel as excess baggage on the same flight from most countries. All other animals must be transported as cargo. Falcons and service dogs are allowed to travel in the cabin, but no other animals are allowed. Service dogs, emotional support dogs and psychiatric service dogs may travel free as checked baggage.

Notify the airline that you want to travel with a pet at least 48 hours before departure. You should check in at least one hour before the standard check-in time. You must provide documentation that you can deal with the animal’s waste without causing health or sanitation issues during the flight. Only six falcons can be in the cabin at one time and each passenger is allowed to travel with one per passenger. There is no limit to the number of pets that can travel as checked baggage. Small to medium animals up to 32 kg travel for $200. Large animals between 32 kg and 75 kg travel for $300 to $450. Animals weighing more than 75 kg are handled as cargo.
