Facilities at Cancun Airport
There are four terminals at Cancun Airport. Most US carriers use Terminals 3. At this terminal, you will find information desks, ATMs, Wi-Fi, retail and duty free shops, car rental agencies, money exchange counter, and access to ground transportation. The airport's busiest US route is via Houston's two main airports.
After going through immigration at your terminal in Cancun Airport, you can pick up your luggage at baggage claim, then continue on to customs and present your customs declaration form. From there, you can exit the arrival gate at last. Passengers can access semi-private or private transportation to hotels by going to the Transportation Section, where arrangements can be made. There are buses, shuttles, private limos, and VIP vehicles available through pre-arrangement with authorized transfer companies at the airport. They will take you to downtown Cancun and hotel zone destinations, operating 24 hours a day, with reasonable rates. If you take a shared transfer, such as a shuttle van, it may take you an hour and a half to reach your resort with stops. A private car will get you to your destination in about an hour. Cancun Airport is just 7.5 miles from the downtown Cancun. If this is where you are headed, you will arrive in about 45 minutes.
Rental cars are also available at Cancun Airport from four different agencies. There is a toll free number to call for arranging your rental car ahead of time at special rates. Flying Into Cozumel Airport (CZM)
If your destination in Cancun is Playa del Carmen, you may decide to fly into Cozumel Airport. Playa del Carmen is the mainland town closest to the island of Cozumel. This airport is a small one, with easy arrival and departure interactions. There is a passenger ferry in Cozumel that takes 45 minutes to get to Playa del Carmen. To get to your hotel in Cancun from Cozumel Airport, you can take a taxi or a van shuttle from the airport to the ferry pier. To hire a taxi, you will have to walk a short way to a taxi stand. The ride to the ferry takes 10 minutes. When your ferry lands, walk two blocks to a taxi stand and go on to your hotel.
