Getting To Marseille

There is only one airport in the city of Marseille. Marseille Provence Airport (MRS) is located 17 miles from the city on the territory of Marignane in France's Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region. The airport handles over 8 million passengers a year to over 100 regularly scheduled destinations. An alternate airport to use for travel to Marseille is Aix en Provence Airport (QXB), which is about 15 miles from the center of Marseille.

Marseille Airport: What To Expect

The Marseille Provence Airport has two terminals. Terminal 1 has two Halls (A&B). Terminal mp2, the budget terminal built in 2006, will soon be simply known as Terminal 2. Terminal 1 is larger than 2. It has more shops, restaurants, and other services available in its Halls. There is a well-equipped Business Centre with meeting facilities and executive lounges available in Terminal 1. Hall 1 is mainly for international flights. The airport is small, so there is no shuttle between terminals as everything is within walking distance.

An airport shuttle bus is available to take passengers to the Marseille railway station, from where you can travel to any part of town by metro. The shuttle bus is quite popular and fills up quickly, leaving the airport every 15-20 minutes from the bus station at platform 5, between the two terminals. The trip to the train station takes just five minutes. A train ride from the station to the city center will take about another 20 minutes. If you prefer, you can take a taxi to your destination. Taxis are always available outside Terminal 1 between the two Halls. There is also a car rental agency located in front of Terminal 1 that is open from 7:00 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. A taxi to your hotel in Marseille will take about 50 minutes.
