Renting a car in Dalaman Airport is a straightforward procedure. Several major car rental companies, including Avis and Europcar, have car hire offices in the arrivals hall of the international terminal. These car rental offices are open 24 hours a day. Unlike most rental car companies, Dalaman car hire operates on an empty pick up, empty return policy. Cars are delivered with an empty tank and must be filled upon pickup. The good news is that the cars do not need to be refueled before return. Use the Skyscanner car hire comparison search tool to get the best deals on discount car rentals at Dalaman Airport.
Driving from Dalaman Airport
Take the D555 north from Dalaman Airport and drive 2 kilometers to the Opet Dalaman gas station to fill up the tank. Pay with Turkish Lire or an international credit card. It is advisable to have Turkish Lire before driving in Turkey, as there are occasional toll roads, most notably the Göcek Tunnel. Passing through this tunnel costs five Turkish Lire each way, and this is the only way to get to Göcek, Fethiye, and all resorts in the south of Turkey. The D555 joins the D400, which leads either southeast to Göcek or northwest to Ortaca and Dalyan.
