Cheap Flights from Bellingham in 2019

About Bellingham International Airport (BLI)

Located about 90 miles north of Seattle (and its two busy airports), Bellingham International specializes in offering competitive fares to travelers looking to go to nearby Vancouver. Passengers can often get tickets to Bellingham for a much better price than they would get by flying directly into Vancouver International, then rent a car or take public transportation to cross the border. The trip between the two cities takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Bellingham also sees significant traffic to Las Vegas and also offers flights to Hawaii and major cities along the West Coast.

One unique quality of Bellingham is that during the colder months, very thick fog is not uncommon. It can get thick enough to cause flights to be canceled, so be sure to keep an eye on the weather.

Cheap Flights From BLI

Though Bellingham is more known as an inbound destination rather than outbound among deal shoppers, it's possible to find deals to Las Vegas at times. Allegiant offers flights to Sin City year-round, but Alaska Airlines will jump in and compete with seasonal service during the winter months.

Otherwise, flight deals are a bit slim here as there's a very limited amount of carriers: just Allegiant, Alaska and San Juan Airlines, and they all have a lock on their destinations for the most part. Deal-seekers departing from Bellingham may want to look south to the Seattle airports instead; the Flights Comparison Map will let you quickly compare prices from each airport to your destination. Bellingham is conveniently connected to Seattle by Amtrak train and a variety of bus services.

Features of BLI for Outbound Passengers

Bellingham International is a relatively small airport with very limited amenities. There's one restaurant and several snack shops, but these tend to close up early. The big draw of this airport as compared to traveling to Seattle is the inexpensive long-term parking. BLI also has free WiFi throughout the terminal.

There is a city bus line (Route 3) which originates from downtown and stops at BLI. A variety of private shuttle companies also pick up throughout the Bellingham area and will transport passengers to and from the Seattle airports. Though Amtrak connects Bellingham to the major cities to the south, the station in the city and the airport are basically on opposite ends and will require a long taxi ride.
