Popular Destinations From Seoul

There are dozens of popular destinations to reach from Seoul, including:

  • Hong Kong
  • Bangkok
  • Osaka
  • Tokyo
  • Manila
  • Taipei
  • New York City
  • San Francisco
  • Ho Chi Minh City
  • Cebu
  • Beijing

For another spin on the Asian megacity, check out Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taipei, or Beijing. These routes will be cheap most of the year, with the exception being the lunar new year.

For a longer journey to the West, New York City and San Francisco have an abundance of American culture and business opportunities for those who are interested.

If a less urban experience is more up your alley, check out Cebu or Ho Chi Minh City, where you’ll find beautiful opaque canals connected by pagodas, mere yards from diverse jungles. Traveling to these locations will likely be inexpensive year round, provided that you fly with a carrier that flies along that route frequently.

How To Get To The Airport

Seoul is served by two airports: Incheon International and Gimpo International. Gimpo International is the older of the two and caters to international flights within Asia and South Korea. To get to Gimpo International, the Seoul Subway lines 5 and 9 are your best bet, as a ticket will cost you less than $10 and get you there in less than an hour.

Incheon International is a bit farther away from central Seoul, but is easier to get to with public transit, and offers many more international destinations outside of Asia. To get to Incheon International, you can take the Incheon International Airport Railroad Express, which connects to the Seoul Metropolitan subway line at many different points.

You can also take the Korea Train eXPress, which serves a different arm of the Seoul metro transit system but still terminates at Incheon International.

As if these rail connections weren’t enough, you can also take the Yeoungjong-do ferry, which picks up at Gangnam and drops you off at a dock near the airport. After getting dropped at the dock, a shuttle bus takes you the rest of the way.
