Cheap Flights to Asturias

The only commercial airport to be found in the Asturias region of Spain, Asturias Airport almost exclusively receives flights from major cities in Western Europe. Regular service is available from London, Madrid, Lisbon and a number of other cities. A good deal of seasonal service is added during both the summer and winter months when flocks of tourists are en route to the Canary Islands for a getaway. Year-round service is available to this airport from Air Europa, easyJet, Iberia Express, Volotea and Vueling.

Asturias High and Low Seasons

Asturias is subject to the same general tourism pattern throughout Europe - peak season in the summer, shoulders in the spring and fall, and low season in the winter. Tourism peaks in Asturias can be even higher than usual in August and September, however, as it's a very comfortable temperature in the region while it is uncomfortably warm in most of the rest of Spain. Winter is relatively warm as compared to most of Europe, but the region also gets a lot of rain during this period. This will likely be the time when you see the lowest possible prices on lodgings and airfare, but deals usually abound in the shoulder seasons too.

Major annual events in Asturias include Carnaval in February, the Holy Week and Easter celebrations, the Fiesta de San Pedro in June, Fiestas de Begona in August, and the Dia de Asturias and San Mateo festivals in September.

Asturias Airport Tips

Though it is small and has only the most basic of amenities, travelers tend to like the Asturias airport for its short lines and quick security checks. It is perhaps best to not rely on dining at the airport, however, as there is just one cafeteria and a small snack bar. There is unlimited free WiFi throughout the airport. Do note that the airport closes daily at 11 PM and does not re-open until 6:30 AM.

Transportation from Asturias Airport

Car rental is available directly from the airport with Hertz, Goldcar, OK Rent A Car, Avis, Thrifty and GO. A bus service called Alsa also has lines that go from the airport to Aviles, Gijon and Oviedo. Public transit throughout Asturias is extremely limited and access to taxis and ridesharing can be limited to nonexistent in many areas, however, so renting a car is highly recommended.
