About Kyiv

Cheap Flights to Kiev

A majestic city with an extensive history going back nearly 1,400 years, Kiev's charm continues to draw travelers from across Europe and from around the world. Attending one of the city's many festivals, touring the grand architecture and exploring the interesting local history are just a few activities guests will enjoy while in Kiev.

Flights to Kiev

Most flights to Kiev land at nearby Boryspil International Airport (KBP). However, the smaller Zhuliany International Airport (IEV) is closer to the city center and is becoming increasingly popular. Located 18 miles east of Kiev, Boryspil International Airport is a modern facility with three passenger terminals and two parallel runways, one of which is equipped to accommodate all types of aircraft around the clock without regard for weather conditions. Travelers enjoy the convenience of several shops, restaurants and other amenities located inside the airport. The Sky Bus transports passengers from the airport to the city center and makes stops at certain transit stations along the way.

Zhuliany International Airport, also known as Kyiv International Airport, is owned by the city of Kiev and is located in the city's Zhuliany neighborhood. Though the airport is smaller than Boryspil International, it is one of the busiest hubs in the region for flights to Kiev and also has three terminals that offer a host of amenities for airline passengers.

Attractions in Kiev

Architecture and history lovers will have no shortage of sites to visit. The Kiev Pechersk Lavra is a fascinating cave monastery complex that dates back to 1051 and, along with Saint Sophia Cathedral, is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but the two points of interest are at separate locations in the city. One of the city's most recognized landmarks, Saint Sophia Cathedral's name is derived from the famed Hagia Sophia Cathedral in Constantinople.

Those who enjoy the performing arts are highly recommended to take in a performance at the Ukrainian National Opera and Ballet Theatre. Not only is the Viennese interior of the venue spectacular, but the national ballet company is comprised of world-class dancers.
