Flights to (LAX)

LAX sees more than 36 million passengers pass through its gates each year. It’s the only airport in the country to serve as a hub to all four American legacy airlines: Delta, United, American and Alaskan. It’s also a major hub for Horizon Air and Great Lakes Airlines, and a focus city for Southwest, Virgin America, Qantas, Air New Zealand, Volaris, and Allegiant Air. Los Angeles International Airport is home to more than 60 airlines operating 928 nonstop flights each week to and from 87 domestic and 69 international destinations. With all of these options, there’s a good change to find a cheap flight to Los Angeles.

This is a huge and sprawling airport, with 9 terminals spread in a horseshoe shape. Most international flights are hosted in terminal 2 or the Tom Bradley International terminal, while several others are devoted exclusively to major airlines.

To get into the city, travelers have a host of options, including public transit. There are free shuttle buses to the LAX Transit Center in parking lot C, as well as many city bus routes and the Los Angeles Metro Rail. You can also hop on a Flyaway Bus at a flat rate of $10. Alternatively, you can choose from taxis, private shuttles, or rental cars.

Stuff to Do in Los Angeles

Of course, Hollywood, Venice Beach, and Universal Studios are usually at the top of everyone’s LA wish list, and each are worth a visit. If you can stand a bit of cheese, take the experience a step further by hopping on a bus tour, where your guide will point out all of the most famous places on your list.

Some of the things you might associate with LA aren’t actually in the city at all, but a bit outside: Disney World is an hour to the southeast, Rodeo Drive is in Beverly Hills, and most of the major movie studios are actually located in Burbank. If you have the time, go ahead, but if you want to stay closer to base, there’s more than enough to see within the city limits. The Getty Center will thrill art-lovers with one of the finest collections in the world. Griffith Park is home to miles of hiking trails, the LA Zoo, the Autry Cowboy Museum, and much more.

Advice for Tourists Traveling to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

The best times to take a flight to LA are usually from March to May or September to November, when temperatures occupy a comfortable range of between 60 and 70 degrees. Higher temperatures in the summer months can combine with heavy smog to make the atmosphere unpleasant for sightseeing. You can get good deals in the winter months, but LA without the sunshine just isn’t quite the same.

You can get around the city by train or bus, but to make the most of your time in LA, you’ll probably want to rent a car. Having the freedom to escape the city for the surrounding areas will add a whole new dimension to your Los Angeles vacation.
