In the terminals, you will find Wi-Fi, lounges, money exchange services and duty-free shops. Some nearby hotels offer airport pickups. However, you can also use the suburban rail service, use the prepaid taxi service or rent a car. A taxi ride to the city center costs about $7 depending on where you are heading.

Attractions in Chennai

The city of Chennai is known for its multitude of temples. Kapaleeshwar Temple is one of the oldest temples in the region that still functions. Devotees and locals come every day to pray. There are performances that go along with the rituals.

Food is relatively inexpensive in Chennai. You can expect a mid-range meal for two at a restaurant to cost just over $7. Visitors are recommended to try puttu, a breakfast food made from layers of rice and egg, and appam, a South Indian pancake that is made from a combination of coconut milk and fermented rice batter. The hottest average temperatures occur in May and April and reach an average of 90 degrees Fahrenheit. January is the coolest month in Chennai at 76 degrees.
