Public transportation into the city includes bus and train service. Two train lines connect the airport to the city's central station, and the Flughafen stop is just moments from Terminals 1 and 2.
While Munich has a wide array of architectural styles, the city center is dominated by many of the city's great Gothic structures. The area is very walkable and contains famous landmarks and churches. After dark, the city center has a very popular bar scene.

There are countless alehouses, known as Wirtshäuser, with small beer gardens that are the core of Munich's communal life. Munich is synonymous with Oktoberfest, but this beer festival is certainly not the only celebration in the city. Munich is one of the top Carnival destinations in Europe during February. In summer, the city pays homage to its performing arts with festivals for film, opera and classical music. Summers are pleasant in Munich with average temperatures in the low 70s. Visitors are surprised to find that winter doesn't keep the locals inside as they seem to thrive on the temperatures around 30 degrees Fahrenheit.
