New Jersey

The Garden State has earned itself the reputation for being the second wealthiest in the country, with regards to median household income. Located on the United States’ east coast, many of New Jersey’s suburbs overlap into New York City and Philadelphia.

Despite the congestion though, the Garden State is famous for its beautiful beaches and many natural attractions. Among these, the Delaware Water Gap, the Appalachian Trail, Pine Barrens, Cape May, and Atlantic City’s esteemed Boardwalk are just a few! Millions of tourists visit Trenton, Hoboken, Jersey City, Newark, and Princeton every year.

Multiple international airports operate in New Jersey, but the largest and busiest by far is Newark Liberty International. Next up in terms of passenger scale are Atlantic City and Trenton Mercer respectively. The popularity of Newark’s airport is affected in no small way to its close proximity to Manhattan.

To this day, it is the United States’ first major airport, and it is an essential part of the New York metropolitan area airport system (JFK and LaGuardia are the other two). This system is the largest in the country and second largest on the planet concerning annual flight traffic. 35 million foreign and domestic passengers flew to and from Newark Liberty in 2013; the airport is a central flight hub for United Airlines and one of FedEx Express’ largest cargo centers.

United represents a sheer 70% of the airport’s transportation market. Over the years, multiple terminal expansion projects have been completed at Newark Liberty, including a staggering $1.3 million effort that was part of the Global Gateway Project created by Continental Airlines. Delta, American Airlines, US Airways, Southwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines, JetBlue, and Spirit Airlines all have non-stop flights to New Jersey.
