The Biggest Little City in the World is widely considered Vegas’ little brother, and for good reason. With its shining strip and plethora of hotels and attractions, Reno is by all accounts a casino city! For obvious reasons, most tourists visiting here are interested in gambling, and they will find all the fun (and luck) they need at Atlantis, Grand Sierra Resort, and Peppermill.
Reno-Tahoe International is the primary airport that serves the region, and given the popularity of the city as a top United States tourist spot, it is the second busiest airport in the state. Las Vegas’ McCarran International flies more passengers each year, but Reno is not far behind.
Flights to Reno
3.5 million foreign and domestic passengers were flown through into Reno in 2013, and thanks to a multi-million baggage claim area-remodeling project, the look and feel of the airport is expected to increase flight traffic a notable amount. Reno-Tahoe International also saw the replacement of its 50+ year old control tower in late 2010, with the new ATCT equipped with state of the art TRACON technology.
Are you ready for Reno? Fun stuff for tourists
Try your luck at Reno’s huge selection of casinos. The grand and luxurious Peppermill has been deemed the best gaming property in the city, but there are more than enough places to keep you and your friends busy all night! Reno prides itself as a city of fun, which is why it hosts a number of popular events each year.
Hot August Nights is a famous classic car show, and the Great Reno Balloon Race and Reno Air Races are worthy of a look! A relatively short, southwest trip will take you to beautiful Lake Tahoe. Crystal-clear waters and stunning mountain views are only 47 miles from Reno’s city center!
Advice for visiting Reno
Reno’s desert climate means hot days and chilly nights, so do not forget to pack a sweater for your nights out. Rental cars are available from all of the major carriers, but with free shuttle services offered by Enterprise and affordable trips catered by the RTC RIDE public transit system, there is no need to rent (unless you plan to travel outside of the city). Pneumatic Diner, Blue Moon Pizza, Foley’s Irish Pub, and Louis Basque Corner are a few of Reno’s famous eateries!
Casino cities often offer incredible flight/hotel package discounts to attract tourists. Let Skyscanner give you the edge on airfare and hotel rates. Round-trip flights to Reno are very affordable even without these special savings, but we know you are going to need that extra cash for the slot machines!
Flexible where you fly? Search nearby airports for bigger savings.
