This wonderful Old Town with it's old port with stunning views on one side and the sweeping sandy beach on the other is a great place to visit. The gold sands and clear water are a great place to play. While the harbour with is fish market and fishing boats is a great place to explore. The old town has cobbled streets and wonderful little shops. The restaurants over looking the bay have stunning food and views.
Our kayaking group spent a fantastic day and night in Sozopol. We could walk the many pedestrian zones late into the night, enjoying the arts festival, the port, and the church graveyard where a "vampire" had recently been exhumed. We launched our kayaks from the port and paddled up the peninsula to the little island, enjoying the small surf and views of the town. Fun town with plenty of attractions to keep you busy for a few days, especially if you're a water person, like I am.
Rest in Bulgaria since 2005, have toured almost the entire coast. I note that this is a very nice holiday country, with well-developed resorts, new hotels, for different wealth, nice friendly people, relatively low prices in restaurants, cafes, shops, souvenir shops. About Sozopol can say the following - a small, friendly town, very picturesque, distinctive, full bell flair. I was there 6 times and each visit was discovering something new about this city, and was leaving with sadness and a desire to go back there.
The old town is one of the coolest places out there. Restaurants on the cliff makes this peninsula town must see.
