Olomouc, in Moravia, the western part of Czech Republic is my perfect small city in Europe. It's beautiful and historic, but lacking tourists for some odd reason. (Maybe all the tourists are in Prague, but I prefer Olomouc to Prague.) Good local eating options and excellent beer and wine (Moravia is the wine-producing region.) Olomouc is fun but kind of quiet.
Small and relaxed town of Czech Republic. It's the fourth largest city in the country, but the second largest historic city after Prague. The locals call Olomouc 'better Prague', meaning less tourists but equally historic and beautiful. I couldn't argue with that. The whole town was small but very relaxing, and the town square was stunning. The astronomical clock is different than the one in Prague. When you are planning to visit Czech Republic, don't forget to include Olomouc in your itinerary.
It was beautiful.
