Alexandria is of great historical significance to Egypt. Named after Alexandria the Great, the city once housed the lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the ancient wonders of the world. Unfortunately, this wonder has since been lost to the waves of time. But you can still make a day trip to Alexandria from Cairo. Many hotels can arrange this tour for you, and most will tours include transportation, meals, and hotel pickup.
one of the most beautiful towns in northern Egypt. Amazed by the "snöhetta" designed new library and its surroundings. Nice people and good restaurants if you give them a chans. Don´t misstrust for waiting. They are egyptiens!
We went to this port city as an entry to Cairo. The location of the port is not that great but the city itself is very nice. The drive to Cairo is quite long so make sure you plan accordingly.
Alexandria is the second-largest city of Egypt, with a population of 4.1 million, extending about 32 km (20 mi) along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in the north central part of the country. It is also the largest city lying directly on the Mediterranean coast. Alexandria is Egypt's largest seaport, serving approximately 80% of Egypt's imports and exports. Alexandria is also an important tourist resort. It is home to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (the new Library of Alexandria). It is an important industrial center because of its natural gas and oil pipelines from Suez,i visited Alexandria,Egypt with alltoursegypt.com
