Photo of the statue Kartulis Deda "Mother Georgia" looking down on the fascinating city of Tbilisi. The statue nearly seventy feet high was built in 1958 to celebrate the city's 1500 year anniversary. She symbolizes the Georgian character: in her left hand she holds a bowl of wine to greet those who come as friend, and in her right hand is a sword for those who are enemy. The Old Town is an area of narrow twisting lanes and lofty balconies . . . city has a "with it happening" feel. Suggest stay in Boutique British House which rests on a quiet leafy side street just off center of the city. Place is cozy with wonderful Georgian hospitality!

I really loved this city as there u can feel some decadent atmosphere as some parts are kind of ruined. Locals are super friendly and even though they don't speak very good English they will want to spend hours and hours talking with you and offering you local drink as well as food.
