Hotels in St. George

Grenada's capital city is a beautiful coastal refuge known for its pristine beaches, charming colonial architecture, lovely rainforest hikes and the smell of vanilla, cinnamon and cloves being processed.

St. George is a popular stopover point for yachters, and the high-end resorts in the area usually command hundreds of dollars per night. The city offers a wide range of options for lodging, however, and more basic accommodations can very often be found for well under $100 USD per night.

Peak and Low Seasons in St. George

Grenada's peak season runs from December to April. The weather is dry, calm and balmy during this time, with low humidity and little threat of rain. Conversely, during the wet season (July to November), you have to worry not only about rain and high humidity but also powerful tropical storms. You'll find the lowest prices during the wet season, of course, but check weather forecasts carefully to ensure your vacation doesn't get interrupted by a hurricane!

May-June is the best window for finding a hotel deal. Prices are starting to lower as the winter tourism season comes to an end and the weather gets a little wetter, but you're not yet in storm season during this time.

Major annual events that may impact hotel prices include the Grenada Sailing Festival and the the Spice Island Billfish fishing tournament in January, and the Spicemas Festival in early August.

Hotels Near Popular Destinations in St. George

The prime location in St. George is the Grand Anse Beach. Naturally, most visitors want to be able to walk to the beach, but the city's best dining and nightlife options are clustered in this area as well. Many lodging options are also in this area, mostly beachside resorts where you can expect a standard rack rate of anywhere from $100 to $1000 USD per night. More affordable options can be found just to the north and northeast of Grand Anse along Lagoon Road and near the Grenada Golf Course; these are mostly vacation apartments and bed & breakfasts that are generally under $100 USD per night if the city isn't slammed with tourists.

More beach resorts with similar pricing dot the Grand Anse Bay all the way down the coast. There are also quite a few hotels in the Lance aux Epines area, which is in the southern part of the city sandwiched between Prickly Bay and Mt. Hartman Bay.

Luxury Hotels in St. George

The most exclusive option in the city is the Villa Solitaire on the isolated Westerhall Land Settlement just to the east of the city. It'll run you around $2000 USD per night, but offers visitors the run of a four-bed, three-bath mansion on two acres.

If you want an all-inclusive resort experience, Sandals has a location in St. George. The LaSource is located far from the other lodgings on the island and offers a private beach, fully-stocked in-room bars with top-shelf liquor and a variety of on-site restaurants. Rates generally run from $500 to $1500 USD per night depending on the season and traffic. This is also the closest option to the airport.

A number of other beachside resorts and four-star hotels are available that are generally in the range of $200 to $1000 USD per night. These include the Mount Cinnamon Hotel, the Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel, the Spice Island Beach Resort and the Cobaya Beach Resort.

Budget Hotels in St. George

For the lowest possible pricing in St. George, look to the vacation apartments and B&Bs. Being willing to stay just off the coast a little ways will offer you significant savings. There are some more basic hotels that are withing walking distance of the beach and have sea views that tend to be under $100 USD per night; these include the Sea Breeze Hotel, the Siesta Hotel and the Gem Holiday Beach Resort.

A realistic expectation for St. George is $50 USD per night at absolute bare minimum, and probably more than this during the high season.
