We stayed in an agriturismo farm hotel, Torrevechia di San Pancrazzio. Good food, swimming pool, relaxing quiet surroundings. We took day trips to Lecche, Castro, Porto Cesare, good beaches. Good food everywhere. Alberobella on way back to Rome has unique 16c tulli houses.
There are few better regions in Italy for completely chilling out and sunning yourself, snacking on taralli (little hard loop shaped bread) and wine in the early evening, and feasting on fish and sumptuous southern Italian dishes at night. Some gorgeous Magna Grecian ruins, as well.
In a perfect location not too far from the sea, with a nice pool if you don't want to leave, a hearty breakfast, a communal kitchen, lovely hosts (and do-it-all types) and family-friendly , what more could you want for relaxation in Puglia.
Italy's flattest region==my favorite place for biking. The olive trees are huge and amazing, great beaches, and the trulli add a fairytale atmosphere to the whole pretty scene.
