Sardinia is a large Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea. It has nearly 2,000km of coastline, sandy beaches and a mountainous interior crossed with hiking trails. Its rugged landscape is dotted with thousands of nuraghi – mysterious Bronze Age stone ruins shaped like beehives
Absolutely beach lovers' paradise. I never thought I could be a beach gal until I went to Sardinia! Seafood awesome, people are unbelievable friendly, strongly recommend!
The sea, the people, the land and history and the climate all make Sardinia alluring to travelers from D.H. Lawrence to Madona. This large island was occupied by the Phoenicians, Romans, Catalans, and it's own indigenous iron-age cultures. You can kayak, sail, surf, hike, cycle, and motor around the island. It offers quiet lagoons, urban cultural centers.
