Hotels in Malacca

Malacca's location in southern Malaysia makes it an ideal tropical getaway with a hint of cosmopolitanism. As a growing tourism destination, many people have been more interested in heading to Malacca, and here at Skyscanner, we're eager to make sure that you get the best deal possible while you visit this scene getaway by the sea.

Where are the hotels located?

The hotels in Malacca are located in the downtown area, close to the waterfront. This is excellent because it means that most of the hotels in Malacca have a view of the ocean in addition to the beautiful Malay cityscape. There are also many hotels along the Malacca river, which cuts directly through downtown Malacca and adds a tremendous charm to the entire city.

There are also hotels in the Taman Angkasa Nuri neighborhood, which is adjacent to the Malacca river; the hotels here tend to be mid-sized hotels which don't have views or amenities as extravagant as the hotels that are closer to the waterfront. The hotels there do have better access to the highway system, though.

What prices are hotels?

Most hotels in Malacca are relatively inexpensive, meaning that you'll pay less than $100 per night. If you're willing to go all out, you can find a hotel that's more expensive, but Malacca is a city where you can book a room at the Holiday Inn on the waterfront relatively cheaply, so consider that spending extra money may not get you much farther.

Where can I find cheap hotels?

The cheaper hotels in Malacca are far from the water and also far from the Malacca River. These hotels are intended mostly for business and are less likely to be foreigner accessible. The best deals are right by the waterfront, near the neighborhood known as the Portuguese Settlement.

Can I find a five-star / four-star hotel etc.?

You may have a hard time finding a five star hotel in Malacca, but there are plenty of four-star hotels which should meet your standards at a very low price. The hotels in Malacca are, much like the rest of Malaysia, extremely well kept, and a bargain.

Expect everything to be squared away before your arrival, and for the hotel staff to be extremely courteous, if perhaps deficient in English ability.

Can I book a specific hotel/hotel brand?

There are a few international brands in Malacca, though there are far more local Malay hotel brands. If you're looking for a brand like Holiday Inn, Radisson, or Ramada Inn, you'll be able to find it in Malacca without a problem. Don't be afraid to try out one of the Malaysian chain hotels, though. Malay hotels offer tons of amenities for their low price, and many humble looking hotels will contain expansive pools hidden underground.

The same goes for the international chain hotels of Malacca. Many of them have a uniquely Malay spin, such as the Holiday inn containing a garden inside of a courtyard, all by the waterside.
