Cancun is a picturesque city on the Yucatan Peninsula in southeastern Mexico. It has been a popular American, Canadian, and European tourist destination for decades and maintains its appeal with a combination of white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, incredible resort hotels right on the beach, and access to numerous historical sites in the greater Riviera Maya area. Food with both a local and international flare, as well as nightlife for the young and young at heart round out the reasons why millions of visitors travel to this little slice of paradise every year.
The weather in Cancun attracts visitors every month of the year as the city is never less than what most people would consider warm year-round. The main hotel area is actually on a strip of land that juts out into the Caribbean, adding to the eye-catching, postcard-ready views from almost anywhere in the area. Visitors can make Cancun into almost any type of vacation they would like, relaxing on the beach all day, dancing the night away, horseback riding through the jungle nearby, or shopping in the hundreds of shops and outlets in the downtown area.
Cancun has hundreds of hotels available that run the full range from basic economy accommodations to major hotel chains to over-the-top luxury resorts. Properties often have multiple pools and many sit right on the water's edge due to the positioning of the hotel zone.

I spent a month here as a solo female during spring break season working for a travel company and fell in love with Cancun. The locals are very friendly and love sharing their culture!
Cancun is pretty amazing with great cheap food and good malls. We like Puerto Morelos, about 20 miles south where everything is much cheaper and the people are great. From anywhere on the Yucatan you can travel to Mayan Ruins (Archeological Sites) within a few minutes to a few hours, Chichen Itzá is only about two hours away, and Campeche about four with many ruins between.
Love it... It has it all, adventure, history, beautiful beaches, fun activities for the whole family, lovely people and great food. Please visit Xcaret and do not skip the night show!
It was so much fun! It was my first time out the country! We toured Chichén Itzá further inland and took a catamaran to Isla Mujeres!
