Home of the drink, which overshadows everything else in town, there is still much else to see. Just sorry that it was an in and out visit.
We stopped in the city of Tequila after we left Guadalajara on the way to Puerto Vallarta. There's not a lot of there, there, but the people seemed to be very nice.
About 60km from Guadalajara you could visit the "Ciudad de Tequila". The popularity of the drink and the history behind it has made town and the area surrounding a World Heritage Site. In my opinion, the best tour is Hacienda San José del Refugio (Tequila Herradura) because you can see entire process of Tequila. If you survive =) , you can visit the famous "Mundo Cuervo" (José Cuervo) too.
