A beautiful Spanish style city that some great historical spots. The city does feel a bit run down and untouristy, so I would recommend exploring the city on a tour or with a group.
We really loved this city! We actually drove through this town twice, initially on our way to Chichen Itza and then again on our way to Tulum. We purposely returned on our way to Tulum because we loved it so much. There's a great central plaza, beautiful, colorful colonial buildings, and delicious food. We had our best meal on our whole trip in this town. This town is super charming, and certainly worth a stop, even just for a meal and a quick look around.
Valladolid is the perfect place to stay if you want to visit the cenotes and Mayan ruins of the Yucatan – as it is very central to many attractions. The town itself is picturesque too, with a quaint colonial square with a church, and lots of cobblestone streets leading from the centre. Make sure you check out the market, where you can buy delicious street food and get a true taste of Mexico.
cute colonial city that's lovely to walk around. wish I could've spent more time here. it's small and quaint, but the colourful streets are really alluring
