Valencia is the third largest city of Spain and capital of its own eponymous autonomous community originally founded by the Romans. On the coast of the Mediterranean and featuring a host of ancient and modern architectural wonders, this city is a must-see for those passing through Spain.
Valencia's settlement dates from the 1st century BCE and switched hands continuously throughout the resulting centuries. As a result, a pleasing melange of architectural styles await the interested tourist, along with a population as cosmopolitan as the city's visitors.
Where once the city was a hub of industry, now it fills up greatly during Les Falles, the festival in March that draws attendees from all over the world to view fireworks and take in the cultural offerings of the city.
The city is most known for the Garden of Turia, a park situated in the former riverbed of the now-diverted River Turia, which allows pedestrians to traverse the city as one pleases.
Hotels in Valencia radiate out from the city center, and a select few offer views of the Mediterranean itself.
Valencia is popular with backpackers and thus has many hostels that offer low-cost accommodations:

My favourite city in the world. It has the perfect balance between a city break and a beach break. Prices were great and you can find a lot of cheap bars and restaurants. Considering the weather was so good, most of the activities I did were outside and free. The food was absolutely beautiful and very reasonably priced.
Nice place (Better than Barcelona). More luxurious, clean, with nice big park for running, cycling, football and more. I will visit it again
