Bangor is a small University town. What is lacks in size it makes up for with location and things to do. Bangor (Gwynedd) is located right on the Menai Strait opposite Anglesey. Bangor is right on the water and backed up to the foothills of Snowdon. Being right on the water and backed up to the mountains, makes Bangor (North West Wales) a perfect place for adventure seekers. You can go kayaking in the strait (be mindful of the tides), fishing, trail running, hiking, go on a crazy fast zipline, or just hang out and have a cup of tea in one of the great little cafes. From Bangor center, you can hop a bus or train and be just about anywhere in north west Wales in about 40 minutes. Just outside Bangor is Penrhyn castle, the former home and estate of Lord Penrhyn. Bangor also has "roman camp" a place where roman soldiers camped while trying to rid wales of druids.
