Brunswick is a city in the southeastern part of Georgia. It was named by the founder of the Georgia Royal Colony, James Oglethorpe, for his benefactor King George !!, whose House of Hanover hailed from Brunwicke, Germany. The historic city was laid out on a grid by Ogelthorpe, and has some very interesting architecture.
While there is great promise and history to the town it is missing the mark on attracting visitors. The prison welcomes you to downtown as you drive from the 95 and while there are some nice places to eat and some shops it isn't a place you would spend much time in. Still worth a trip if stopping for lunch or dinner on the Florida-New York expressway. Lovely little parks and nice architecture.
