I've lived in Cerritos for ten years now. Not going to lie, it isn't exactly a must-visit destination, but it's home to a pretty nice shopping mall, more parks than I can count, and is conveniently located next to Little India (Pioneer) with great restaurants galore. Lots and lots of great Asian restaurants in Cerritos as well - both chains and mom and pop shops.
Cerritos in Spanish means little hill. The humble beginnings of this city started as Dairy Valley. As the cows and dairies slowly disappeared, this city grew into a very family friendly city. There's plenty of schools within the ABC School District ranging from elementary, middle school, high school, private schools, adult school and a community college. The city boasts a very large, beautiful library. There's plenty of shopping at the Los Cerritos Center, Cerritos Towne Center and Cerritos Auto Square. Want to support the arts? Attend a show at the Cerritos Performing Arts Center. If you'd rather enjoy the outdoors, the parks in Cerritos are perfectly manicured and ready for some sporting action. This is city is very diverse and that means great food from different cultures. Although I do love this city. Some times, I feel that this city can be a bit myopic when it comes socio-economic status.
