Panama City is located in the northwestern part of Florida, and Panama City Beach is situated in what is known as the Florida Panhandle. The endless white sand beaches makes this a popular tourist destination, especially during spring break and summer time. Panama City Beach is connected to Panama City via Highway 98. This city got its name from developer George Mortimer West, who noticed the rising interest in the construction of the Panama Canal, and changed the name in hopes of stimulating local real estate development!
In addition to the gorgeous beaches, the Panhandle has a boardwalk vibe. You can expect to find shops, arcades, restaurants, and mini golf can be found along the main strip. Other attractions include St. Andrews State Park, Museum of Man in the Sea, and Pier Park.
There is so much to experience in Panama City, and Skyscanner is here to help you select the best accommodations for your stay! Easily sort listings by price, stars, amenities, hotel brands and more to find the perfect hotel for your individual needs.
There are several hotels located along the shoreline, providing easy access to several beautiful beaches. There are also hotels located near downtown, and it’s about a 20 minute drive to get to the beach.
On average, standard hotel rooms in Panama City are approximately $100-$200 a night. High end hotels run from $200-$300 a night, and can rise during spring break and summer, which are typically when rooms fill up quickly.
Yes! The Boardwalk Beach Resort Hotel has tropical inspired rooms that overlook the gulf or one of the 2 outdoor pools. Access to a private beach make this spot extra special. Legacy by the Sea offers an outdoor pool with sun deck overlooking the gulf. There is an on-site fitness center and rentals for water sports equipment for a day at the beach.
There are a variety of upscale hotels to choose from, the majority of them offering mostly suite-style rooms. Edgewater Beach & Golf Resort is a suite-style hotel with in-suite kitchens and laundry, 11 pools and an adventure park! Enjoy a view of the ocean from your balcony at the Emerald Beach Resort. This 4 star hotel has an outdoor pool, hot tub and cocktail bar.
Many of the hotels listed above are well suited for families and offer amenities such as complimentary cribs, stowaway beds, and baby proofing kits upon request. A stand out is Palmetto Inn & Suites. A game room including arcade games and toys for toddlers, two swimming pools, and a beach with a play area specifically for children ensures fun for the whole family.
My husband's home town. Special to us because we have family here! Just an hour and a half from Tallahassee.
Not Panama City Beach. Laid back town, casual and artistic compared to it's gaudy touristy sister city across the bridge. Harrison Avenue is fun and vibrant , named the original city name before the building of the Panama Canal caused the city to be renamed. The historic areas, including St Andrews, Beach and Beck Ave are all fantastic places to walk and explore.
This is a nice city that I usually visit once every 2 years. There are gift shops galore, hotels around the beach, and much more.
