Making your way to Atlanta Hartsfield

Believe it or not, this is the busiest airport in the world. It’s a huge hub, and the constant enormous volume of passenger’s means that it can be a little intimidating. The good news is, ATL has an efficient layout and staff who understand how to handle numbers of this magnitude. Here’s how it works: the airport has two main terminals. One is the Domestic Terminal, and one is the International Terminals.

Between the two terminals lie seven large parallel concourses. The whole system is linked by a fast free Plane Train people mover, which makes getting around easier than you might think. There’s free WiFi and a free TRAK-A-FLIGHT service to send updated flight and security wait-time info to your mobile device. If you’ve got your pup with you, you’ll appreciate the Domestic Terminal’s 1,000 square foot fenced dog park.

If you’re driving, pay close attention to the airport’s exit signs: each terminal has dedicated entrances from the various interstates. You can also get to ATL via the local Metropolitan Transit Authority (MARTA) city rail system and buses. The city rail is straightforward, with trains running every 15 to 20 minutes between 4:45 am and 1 am weekdays as well as 6:00 am to 1 am on weekends. Fare is $2.50 and the trip from downtown only takes about 20 minutes.

Arriving in Tampa

This city is best known for three things: conferences, amusement parks, and major league baseball. If you’re a baseball fan, you’ll want to catch the Tampa Bay Rays playing at Tropicana Field. If you’re looking for adventure, Busch Gardens offers zoo exhibits alongside some of the world’s most thrilling roller coasters.

If you’re in town for a conference and looking for something fun to do in the downtime, check out the Florida Aquarium, which is home to polar bears, sharks, and 20,000 other species of flora and fauna.

The best Tampa nightlife is found in the historic Ybor City district, which has seen huge revitalization and is now home to upscale restaurants, bars, and clubs. Finally, if you can spare an afternoon for the beach, Clearwater is only a 30 minute drive over the bay.
