Daily nonstop flights from Dallas Love Field to Wichita are available from American (mostly listed as their subsidiary American Eagle). There are usually several departure times available throughout the day, and the direct flight takes about an hour and a half. Several other carriers offer flights that have one or two stops, but the only one that is usually competitive on price is the United route that stops in Houston and has a total transit time of about four hours.

Dallas Love Field Departure Information

Traffic at Dallas Love Field is generally much lower than it is at Dallas Fort-Worth, but it still pays to be prepared. If you're interested in taking the rail service to the airport, the DART Orange and Green lines both connect to nearby Inwood/Love Field Station. It's about a mile and a half to the airport from the station, most likely a little too far to walk, but you can take a cheap taxi ride or catch the connecting Love Link 524 (which runs all day except between 1 and 4 AM).

Dallas Love Field has about 20 different places to grab something to eat before your flight. Popular quick-serve chains at the airport include Dunkin' Donuts, Starbucks, Whataburger, Chick-Fil-A, Bruegger's Bagels and Dicky's Barbecue Pit. You can also get full meals at Sky Canyon, Campesi's, or Cantina Loredo.

Dallas Love Field offers free WiFi for the first 30 minutes of use, and most seats have power outlets near them for free charging.

Preparing to Arrive at Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport

If you're looking to grab a bite to eat upon arrival in Wichita, there are a handful of options. You have your choice of Chick-Fil-A, Dunkin' Donuts, the River City Brewing casual restaurant, and the Grab & Fly snack store. The Air Capital Bar also serves quick meals.

Wichita is not a major tourist destination, seeing much more traffic for conventions and general business than for anything else. That doesn't mean there is nothing to do there, however. History buffs will find a lot of museums and historical sites to keep them busy. These include the Old Cowtown Museum, the Museum of World Treasures, the Henry J. Allen House, the Kansas Aviation Museum, the Mid-America All Indian Center, and the Great Plains Transportation Museum. Sports fans will also not want to miss the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame, and the Exploration Place science center is a great place to bring kids. The area is also fantastic for hiking and fishing, with a large collection of parks: Pawnee Prairie Park, Sedgwick County Park, Chisolm Creek Park, and O.J. Watson Park among the most popular. And if the weather is warm, Rock River Rapids Aquatic Park is a great place to have fun and cool off.
