Making your way to Houston’s Airports
George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IHA) is the area’s biggest airport, made up of five giant terminals. It’s possible to travel between all of the terminals without having to pass through security again, which can be a lifesaver. Terminals A, B, and C are connected by a free bus service, and Terminals B through E are also linked by the imaginatively named TerminaLink train. There is free WiFi in all of the terminals, and pet relief areas for any furry travelers.
Drivers heading to the airport will want at least an hour to travel from downtown Houston to this airport, and if you’re approaching rush hour, all bets are off. You can opt for public transportation instead: METRO bus route 102 is an economical option, with tickets costing only $1.25.
William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) is small and convenient, only 10 miles from downtown. If you’re not fighting traffic it’s possible to make the trip in about 20 minutes. If you want to take the bus, METRO route 88 serves HOU. The airport has just one terminal, and the layout is clear and simple. As an additional bonus, flights from HOU are often cheaper. Hobby has free wifi available throughout the airport, and two pet relief areas.
