Sin City and the City of Angels have a lot in common: vast amounts of sunshine, a talent for excess, and an unstoppable sense of optimism. When it comes to size and variety, however, Los Angeles has the edge. If you’re ready to leave what happened in Vegas in Vegas it’s simple to get to Los Angeles by air.

The cities are about 300 miles apart. Flight time is just over an hour, and you have many choices for direct service. American Airlines, Spirit, Southwest, Delta, United, Virgin America and US Airways all offer non-stop flights from Las Vegas to Los Angeles.

Making your way to Las Vegas McCarran International Airport

McCarran International Airport(LAS) is only two miles off the main Las Vegas strip. There’s plenty of parking if you’re driving, but parking is specific to terminals, so check with your airline. Depending on the length of your trip, taking a taxi may be more economical than paying for parking as they are relatively inexpensive. The average trip costs around $20. You can also take public transportation. There are several RTC bus routes which serve the airport. Which one you choose will depend on which terminal you need.

Terminal 1 has 94 gates spread over 4 concourses: it is the busiest part of the airport, and can be hectic. Terminal 3 is the airport’s international terminal. Both have plenty of slot machines for a last minute pre-flight gamble.

Arriving in Los Angeles

After all that Las Vegas desert, it’s hard to beat the beach. LA’s “endless summer” invites lounging, splashing, surfing, and sand-castles almost any time of year. Try Venice Beach for people watching, Manhattan Beach for glam sun-worship, and Cabrillo Beach for the kids. Speaking of kids, California theme parks are among the best in the world. Disneyland is just down the road in Anaheim, and Universal Studios Hollywood is an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

Whether you’re into heavy-duty shopping or low-impact living, Los Angeles has plenty to offer. Art? Check out the Getty Center, with one of the best collections anywhere on the planet (admission is free). Nature? Griffith Park offers the famous L.A. Zoo along with trails as wild as any you’ll find in the mountains -- all within the city center.
